Adoption, winning Olympic medals with a broken foot, mom guilt, literally making history, and financial strain. While these might all seem like unrelated topics or the summary for this summer’s feel-good movie, they are components of a real-life champion. Laura Wilkinson, Olympic diver, coach, and all-around extraordinary woman was a recent guest on The Better Than Rich Show.
Olympians are usually honing their skills at an early age. For Laura, her diving career didn’t start in the pool. She found diving later on, after gymnastics didn’t quite work out for her.
Sometimes it takes that one person to make your seemingly crazy dream a reality. With the help of a coach who supported her newly set goal of being in the Olympics, Laura set off to eventually win gold medals and make diving history.
We chatted with Laura for a good hour, but we would have enjoyed way more time with her. Laura’s story is full of simply unbelievable circumstances and moments of raw courage. Her talent, commitment to her sport and faith have guided her through many challenges, both on and off the diving board.
